ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrival in Ivalo

Arrival at Ivalo Airport and transfer to Hotel & Igloo Village, Kakslauttanen. Transfer is approximately 40 minutes from the airport. Arrival at the village and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. Your accommodation for tonight is a little un-usual - The glass igloo provides a one of a kind opportunity to admire the northern lights and millions of stars of the crystal clear sky in comfort. The newly built Kelo-Glass Igloos combine the comforting warmth of a cosy log chalet with the sensational view of the world-famous glass igloos. Sleeping up to six and featuring a private sauna, fireplace, kitchenette, and a bedroom with a stunning glass roof, they’re made from Lapland’s unique Kelo pinewood. The upcoming nights you can take in the enchanting beauty of the northern lights and the Lappish wilderness from the comfort of your own private hideaway.

Day 02: Snowmobile Safari

After breakfast enjoy a two-hour snowmobile safari. The snowmobile safari takes you to the small ski village of Saariselkä situated approximately ten kilometers away. Transfer by private vehicle from the hotel to the safari office. At the safari office you will receive full equipment, to include - thermal suit, boots, socks, gloves, balaclava and helmet. An all-important lesson follows. When everybody is ready the safari trail begins with a drive up to the beautiful Kaunispää fell, 436m above sea level. At the top of the fell you can enjoy the magnificent views of the area below. The trail then continues through the beautifully mystical forest. This safari excursion is two hours long and includes an en-route coffee break. Two persons can share one snowmobile and take turns in driving or you can request one for sole occupancy at a supplementary cost. This safari provides an everlasting memory of true excitement in Finnish Lapland!

Day 03: Cross country skiing, glass igloo

After breakfast, enjoy a full day cross country skiing, in the beautiful Urho Kekkonen National Park. Hotel Kakslauttanen is ideally situated for cross-country skiing. The entire Saariselkä area has a combined trail distance of over 200kms and there are varying degrees of trails from family ones to competition and technique trails to nature trails and illuminated trails. The illuminated trail passes by the hotel and is open from 06.00 - 22.00hrs every day and these trails are kept open from early morning even after a heavy snowfall during the night.

Day 04:

After breakfast you will travel by bus Kakslauttanen to Rovanieni. From Rovaniemi bus station a transfer will take you to the Arctic Treehouse hotel, your accommodation for the coming two nights. The concept of Arctic Tree House Hotel has its roots in fragile arctic nature, the fairytale-like world of SantaPark, and northern culture and heritage. The hotel consists of individual accommodation units covered by wooden shingles and standing on tall poles between the trees. Appearing to wander down the hill and curiously peeking at the landscape and sky, they blend into their environment effortlessly. All the buildings are made of Finnish wood, a traditional, sustainable and renewable material. The green roof helps in managing urban runoff and brings the building’s footprint’s worth of vegetation back to the construction site. The wood on the interior surfaces creates a comfortable environment, healthy indoor air and pleasant acoustics.

Day: 05

After breakfast you have the full day to explore the ‘capital’ of Finnish Lapland. Today don’t miss the opportunity of visiting the Santa Claus village. There is allot to see and do in Rovaniemi from simply enjoying your surroundings or partaking in fun filled adventures.

Day 06:

After breakfast a transfer will take you from Arctic Treehouse Hotel to Rovaniemi Airport.
