Rennies Travel Namibia providing shade at U/18 World Tennis Tour

The Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) was host to two back to back U/18 World Tennis Tours in Windhoek 29 April to 3 May 2019 and 6 May to 11 May 2019.  Wellington Sibanda oversaw the two successful events as Tournament Director.   Over 300 entries from all over the world were received for the two tournaments.  This included players from USA, Great Britain, India, New Zealand, Egypt, France, Germany and our neighbouring countries like South Africa and Zimbabwe.  An exciting vibe was present throughout the event with the competition being extremely fierce.  Qualifying matches needed to determine the last 4 spots in each main draw of 32 players. 

In the first tournament rated J4 and being the higher rated tournament, the American player, Lauren Cooper, ranked no 1, won the girls U/18 singles while Jean Malkowski from Switzerland won the boys division.  The second tournament (J5) saw Dylan Salton from South Africa for the boys and Noa Dujardin from France for the girls walking away with the gold. 

Namibia had 6 players participating in the tournaments.  Unfortunately they had to bend the knees early on to the more experienced international players.  Players that proceeded to the third round received valuable ITF ranking points.  Add to that the superb accommodation at Safari Hotel as NTA’s designated accommodation partner, and it’s no wonder why this tournament was so in demand, well attended and received so much positive feedback. 

Rennies Travel Namibia provided cheerful red umbrellas under which many a player found some shade in between games.  Rennies Travel Namibia also organised the transport of the tournament referee and their ongoing support and travel arrangements are highly appreciated.
