Adjustment of the requirements of the ordinance of Covid Entry Regulations

The main changes/adjustments are as follows:

• Children, 6 years and older (not 12+ years anymore) must provide a negative Covid testing, proof of recovery or vaccination before boarding the flight and are – if not vaccinated or recovered - also obliged to quarantine for 5 days after returning from a high risk area or for 14 days after returning from an area of variants of concern.
• Testing requirements if not vaccinated or recovered when returning from high-risk areas or non-risk areas:
•      Antigen testing with the sample taken max. 48h before entry into Germany or
•      PCR testing with a sample taken max. 48h before departure of the flight.
• Passengers returning from or staying within the last 10 days in an area of variants of concern before entering to Germany must provide a negative PCR test with a sample taken max. 48h before departure. In this case, antigen tests are not valid. Please note: Those passengers should also beware of that the authority in charge can request an additional PCR test at the German entry point or anytime within 14 days after entering Germany. This addition is not fixed in the ordinance but in the explanatory statement.
• Transfer passengers are not exempted from these regulations anymore. All transfer passengers are obliged to provide a proof of recovery, vaccination or a negative COVID test before boarding the flight via Germany. Transfer passengers on flights from an area of variants of concern must provide a negative Covid testing as well.
• Crews: testing regulation for crews arriving from areas of variants of concern was adjusted. If a crew member was not able to carry an actual proof of negative covid testing, the crew member must do a PCR test immediately after arrival. It must be repeated after 10 days in case the crew member is still in Germany.
• The new ordinance is valid from 23 December 2021 until 03 March 2022.
